The Challenge
To design and develop a new website that unified all of Britannia’s offerings into a single, intuitive platform
The Britannia Community Centre serves thousands of residents in East Vancouver, offering everything from recreation and arts to education and cultural programming. Over the years, the site had grown into an enormous information hub — but one that was difficult to navigate. With dozens of departments, programs, and facilities each maintaining their own content, the website had become sprawling and inconsistent.
Our challenge was clear: to design and develop a new website that unified all of Britannia’s offerings into a single, intuitive platform — one that worked for the community, staff, and stakeholders alike.
This wasn’t just a design refresh. It was a full digital transformation.

The Objectives
1
Streamlined Navigation
A streamlined navigation system that organizes hundreds of pages into clear categories.
2
Easy Staff Updates
Custom-built program and event templates for easy staff updates.
3
Bold and Welcoming
A visual design inspired by Britannia’s arts and community identity — bright, bold, and welcoming

OUR APPROACH
Stakeholders across departments |
The project required extensive coordination and collaboration. Over several months, our team met with dozens of stakeholders across departments — from childcare and recreation to the library, pool, and arts centre — to understand their needs, priorities, and workflows.
Custom content structure |
We developed a custom content structure that could accommodate the complexity of Britannia’s programming while keeping navigation simple for visitors. Every section was rethought and rebuilt — from program listings and facility pages to event calendars, news updates, and community stories.
Entirely custom |
On the technical side, the site was built entirely custom, designed for performance, accessibility, and scalability. The result was a seamless experience where visitors could easily find programs, register for activities, and explore what’s happening across the campus.

How we feel |
“This was one of the most rewarding and complex projects we’ve undertaken. It took months of teamwork and coordination, but the result speaks for itself — a digital platform that truly serves the community.”
— Kipling Media Team
The Result
The new BritanniaCentre.org has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from both the community and the City of Vancouver. Visitors can now find what they need faster, discover new programs more easily, and feel a genuine connection to the centre’s mission. The project became a true example of what can happen when design, technology, and community collaboration come together.
